Compliments are awkward

How do you generally receive a compliment? Smile broadly and say THANKS? I try to do that, but it feels so hollow, detached with a sprinkle of Kanye! (I read that somewhere today. Hilarious!!) I usually return the compliment OR tell the person that they’re mad *horrified* or if it’s about something I am wearing I give the person the whole life history of that particular item. *cringe*

I’m such a weirdo, but I think there are many of us out there which serves as some kind of consolation.

I found this piece of advice online which I think is pretty awesome.
"You'll never get anywhere, or be very happy, if you keep being polite all the time. Politeness can be very rude: if someone compliments you and you say 'Oh that? It was nothing,' then you're basically telling them that they're an idiot for thinking well of you."
So repeat after me,
"Thank you, that's very nice of you to say."
"Thank you for noticing"
"Thank you, you just made my day"
Don't say I didnt teach you anything!
