1. A person, as an artist of writer, who lives and acts free of regard for conventional rules and practices. 2. One who lives a wandering or vagabond life, as a Gypsy.
Bohemian fashion – more recently developing the names “boho” or “boho chic” – is largely inspired by the fashions of the hippie movement of the late 1960s and 1970s. although it does include some elements of the hippie style of dress, with its long, flowing clothing and relaxed aesthetic, it also incorporates elements of the style of the Romani. The style originated with artists and nomads, who often had a little money to spend on clothing and thus wore older clothes and unfashionable styles.

What makes an outfit "boho"?
Natural tones, colours and fabrics like cotton, denim, chiffon, silk, fur, suede, velvet, leather, etc.
Layering in terms of clothing, textures and jewellery.
Unrestrained amounts of accessories including chunky rings, midi rings, Mexican bangles, African/Ethnic inspired necklaces, sunglasses, belts, earings, nose rings, ear cuffs.
Flared and high waisted denim, fringes, tassels, lace, maxi skirts/dresses, florals, textured pieces, knitted details, ethnic inspired prints, eclectic accents.
Typical boho chic items would include:
Crochet tops
Tunics
Slouchy knits
Ripped denim pieces from shorts to jeans
Flared jeans/pants
Fur vests
Floral prints
Loosely hanging mini dresses
Fringed elements in clothing, accessories and shoes
Shoes would include wedges, gladiator type sandals, cowboy boots, ankle boots with the focus on comfort and usually natural colours like tan or black.
[The Silly Little Blog loves fringe and tassels. TSLB is actually pretty obsessed with them. TSLB just forgot to caption the collage and didn't feel like redoing it because yes, TSLB didn't save it.]

Hair and makeup
Fedora hats
Headwraps and headbands
Scarves
Hair chains
Long flowy hair/out of bed/loose waves/ dishevelled
Native American type braids/plaits
Top knots
Natural and fresh make-up looks with emphasis on the eyes

Boho-chic at the office
This depends on the type of environment you work in, but this style can be translated into office wear. The colours would just have to be more muted with less emphasis on accessories.

This is a definitely a current trend so most of these items are readily available at most retail stores and online. Since MR P is always ahead of the curve I compiled a little collage of some of their offerings. Click on it and it will take you through to their online store. You're welcome.
That's all I have for now!
